With just six albums in thirty five years, Laurent Voulzy likes to take his time, think, doubt, refine, hesitate, erase, start again. This perfectionist would drive his entourage crazy if his profound kindness and talent did not absolve him of everything. So finally, after ten years, Laurent Voulzy's original musical adventures continue, concentrated in a new atypical, adventurous and enchanting album, Lys & Love. This brilliant writer takes us once again to places we did not know existed: medieval and electro universes. What could be more logical for this artist than to make a stop in our beautiful Medieval City for one starry night, where the charm of this place combined with the poetry of his songs will result in an unmissable, unique concert.

Toulouse's Pier Planas is back with a new album: L'Aiguille et le Fil. On stage, accompanied by LeGroupe, he presents his new intimate and hard-hitting show, and attempts the unlikely feat of getting all his musical styles to coexists, driven by the same energy. This is how he switches from pumped-up Gypsy jazz to 1960s rock 'n' roll, and from funky blues to minimalist zouk. The constants of these styles are the presence of folk guitar and his writing firmly rooted in French song tradition, sustained by genre references and always eager to shed new light on the topics he deals with.

Go topNolwenn Leroy / Donovan + JL. Aubert and M. Faithfull
Wenesday 18 July 9.30 p.m. - Jean-Deschamps Theatre
Nolwenn Leroy
With the success of her album Bretonne, Nolwenn helps us rediscover the most beautiful songs of her native Brittany. She has been preparing this return to her roots for years. Accompanied by Jon Kelly and major English, Scottish and Irish musicians, her music revisits the Celtic soul of this land she loves so much via traditional and contemporary songs. These songs are engraved in our collective memory, combining pop sounds and traditional instruments. Beyond modernity, this extremely personal album aims for timelessness.

DONOVAN + Guests: Nolwenn Leroy, Jean-Louis Aubert, Marianne Faithfull
Often compared with Bob Dylan, Donovan is a tremendous artist who was notably involved in the psychedelic, flower power and pacifist movements of the 1960s. He enjoyed a string of successful records which confirmed his talent as a composer of melodies: Colours (1965), Mellow Yellow and Sunshine Superman (no. 1 in the USA in 1966), The Hurdy Gurdy Man (1968) and Lalena (1969). Donovan rubbed shoulders and worked with the greatest, from the Rolling Stones to the Beatles, from Jimmy Page to John Paul Jones etc. His talent as an instrumentalist and composer also influenced many young artists.
For this unique concert in the Jean-Deschamps Theatre, Donovan has invited three talented artists: Nolwenn Leroy, Jean-Louis Aubert and Marianne Faithfull, to share the stage with him. A great gift for the Carcassonne public with a concert that promises to be magical!

Go topShaka Ponk
Sunday 22 July 9.30 p.m. - Jean-Deschamps Theatre
Shaka Ponk was born between Paris and Berlin in the early 2000s, driven by a concept combining music, images and activism. It is now a fully-fledged group, in the tradition of pugnacious and often noisy alternative rock bands spearheaded by Rage Against The Machine, even though the band dislikes being pigeon-holed. The best strategy to express what Shaka Ponk truly believes in is to use technological prowess, even if it means diverting it from its initial purpose, whether via digitally optimised sounds or the use of virtual characters. But Shaka Ponk is first and foremost a collective adventure.
A succession of concerts in increasingly big venues for a growing audience... Geeks, social network aficionados or followers of the blogosphere, Shaka Ponk has a growing community of young "web citizen" followers as interested in their music as their images. With their 3rd album The Geeks & The Jerking Socks accompanied by several videos, Shaka Ponk continues its thrilling adventure, travelling the open frontier between instruments and software-generated sounds. This band which advocates disciplined chaos proves once again that the only form of respect to be shown to their music is to steal its fire to light their own pyre.
An absolute phenomenon to discover live as soon as possible!

Consequently, the title of his 16th studio album Suppléments de mensonge (Additional lies), an expression taken from Nietzsche's The Gay Science, came to him naturally.
This 16th album marks the return to the stage of this tortured soul with hard-hitting lyrics, this discreet and clear-sighted self-made poet who, throughout a career spanning nearly thirty five years, has been able to transcend doubt, anxiety and trials in order to forge, away from all fads and frivolities, a dense, peculiar and resolutely unique body of work. Hubert Félix Thiéfaine has most decidedly never known how to lie.

This has now been achieved with Fred Manoukian's big band and his 19 musicians. The show hits the ground running. Gerra arrives on stage like a US star, with a brass band. He opens the show, "which is not subsidised by the government", as Charles Aznavour. Two hours of biting humour. The traditional political models are all there: Jack Lang, Nicolas Sarkozy, Jacques Chirac, and many more, as well as the usual suspects: Céline Dion, Francis Cabrel, Etienne Daho, Jeanne Moreau, Alain Delon, Fabrice Luchini etc. They all get the treatment, with a fanfare and bass drum, trombones and violins. As a chronicler of the problems of our modern times, Gerra does not believe in nostalgia; he is generous in his imitations of great legends: Léo Ferré, Charles Trenet, Yves Montand, Serge Reggiani, Henry Salvador, Georges Brassens, Gilbert Bécaud, Claude Nougaro or Serge Gainsbourg... It is as if they were here with us. He targets his victims in a friendly way – with a silencer! - the new generation, Delerm, Biolay and others... . Gerra will perform at the Théâtre de la Cité.
Jump on board, loosen your belt. The humorous journey begins. Let the music commence!

Go topCarca Bouge Choir
Wenesday 1 August 8.30 p.m. - Square André Chénier
The CARCA'BOUGE Choir will accompany the Grandes Bouches, an atypical and corrosive trio resulting from Toulouse collectives (Motivé-e-s, 100% Collègues) who sing and play with the freedom of children and the brilliance of adults. With an impressive vocal technique, the three members - accompanied for the occasion by Didier Dulieux on the accordion - sing a patchwork of festive songs and share with us the rare energy of their voice and swing. Their Bal Républicain album represents the pleasure of reclaiming songs of the resistance, rediscovering and sharing with the public, through dance and vocals, these fights which have always been accompanied by song. We can recall our history by all singing together!

Go topStaff Benda Bilili
Thursday 2 August 10.15 p.m. - Square André Chénier
Kinshasa street musicians, disabled to boot: Congolese band Staff Benda Bilili was particularly underprivileged. However, this band is one of the success stories of the international music scene: having left the streets of Kinshasa for the first time in 2009, Staff Benda Bilili thrilled the public and the media with their first album and their first European concerts.
With an accumulation of rave reviews, the strength, finesse, astounding beauty of their music, the pulse of the eternal Kinshasa rumba, the hip-swinging reggae grooves and wild funky grooves, combined with these superb voices which bring together pieces of the entire diaspora (Havana crooners, Kingston toasters, the Godfather of Soul himself) strike a chord and transcend the increasingly large audience.

Go topAlice Cooper
Thursday 2 August 9.30 p.m. - Jean-Deschamps Theatre
Alice Cooper has featured prominently on the glam rock scene for nearly 40 years.
But make no attempt to remind him that he could be a veteran of this musical genre; his boas may well teach you to be more respectful. Make no mistake: this pioneer of theatrical rock (or shock rock) is still audacious when it comes to excesses of every kind. Alice Cooper's concerts are mind blowing: the staging is remarkable, including a fake guillotine, a nurse literally injecting the singer with a syringe, a straitjacket etc. The public has been warned and will undoubtedly be delighted that this icon is coming to France. Alice Cooper has influenced several major rock, punk and grunge currents, and remains an incontestable rock figure.

Go topJoeystarr
Friday 3 August 10.15 p.m. - Square André Chénier
5 years after Gare Au Jaguarr, Joeystarr releases his second solo album, Egomaniac. Produced by Kimfu, mixed by Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix etc.), with unexpected guests such as Oxmo Puccino, Nicoletta or politician Olivier Besancenot... We recognise his inimitable signature, his urgent, massive and uncompromising style. Joeystarr writes about what he sees, what appals, affects and worries him.
This album marks the solo return of the Jaguarr to the stage, two years after NTM reformed (with a eventful tour which included the Parc des Princes) and well-received film roles (Maïwenn's Polisse for which Joeystarr was nominated for a César award as best supporting actor).

Go topMP 1.2
Friday 3 August 8.30 p.m. - Square André Chénier
Refreshing and offbeat, MP1.2 is first and foremost the meeting of two uninhibited MCs and two turntable operators. Alternately sarcastic and socially conscious, the writing is perceptive and flows are finely tuned. One of the voices takes off when the other highlights the originality of insistent beats which come to life on stage, under the crazy fingers of two turntable operators. This goes beyond Hip-Hop, as their universe features unlikely influences, into a musical symbiosis where energy, sharing and festivity are the best words to sum up this quartet.

Go topBénabar
Friday 3 August 9.30 p.m. - Jean-Deschamps Theatre
Bénabar's personality traits, qualities and talent appeal to a wide audience. Nevertheless, as he grows older, he is revealing himself to be a far more complex artist than he first appears. Of course, behind Bénabar's mask is an author, actor and comedian who respects his roles and his audience. We can also discover a singer who loves words and people... But the strong-headed Bénabar, increasingly at ease when he strays off the beaten track, is now freer and more independent than ever and takes full responsibility for his desires and bold decisions
A complete singer, very popular, a performer more than anything, he looks upon his role models (Renaud, Souchon, Bashung, Delpech etc.) like a fan, never imagining he could be their equal. Three years after the orchestrated pop music of the album Infréquentable (which sold 500,000 copies), Bénabar releases a delicate album with Les bénéfices du doute. Guitars, banjos, a honky-tonk piano, an harmonica solo: from Quebec to Ireland passing through Renaud's France, this is referred to as floor music, as if made just as much for the feet as the head. Do people reflect better when they dance? The songs are like a bending reed: the melody is what catches our ear but it's the lyrics we remember at parties and weddings.

Go topColor Humano
Saturday 4 August 8.30 p.m. - Square André Chénier
Color Humano is a great live band which transcends the musical genre. There is little separating Color Humano and human warmth. Based on their solid musical technique, Color Humano have developed their own style. Edgy funky riffs combined with furious harmonica have become their trademark, supported by a powerfully diabolical Percussion/Drums/Bass trio. Add to this the strength of this band: socially conscious texts and a piercing voice to give them real meaning.

Go topThomas Dutronc
Sunday 5 August 9.30 p.m. - Jean-Deschamps Theatre
After a tour of 250 dates, close to 600,000 spectators and more than 600,000 albums sold, Thomas Dutronc returns to the stage in 2012. The singing career of this lover of swing and guitar virtuoso started almost by accident and is simply fantastic. His new show will undoubtedly be as original as the last, funny, convivial and moving all at once, reflecting the personality of this unique artist.
His new record is unlike anything familiar or identifiable within popular music: an incredibly intricate blend of vibrant instrumentals and free-thinking songs, as if falling from the sky with the grace of an acrobat, totally devoted to passionate fantasy, the sheer folly of an artist with the deceptive appearance of a well-behaved young man combined with his striking charm: Thomas Dutronc…

Amandine bourgeois (support act at 8.30 p.m.)
Dare to listen to Amandine. This is what comes to mind when listening to Amandine Bourgeois' new album. When is the last time you thought you were witnessing the birth of a voice with the perfect glamorous and whimsical elements to justify her place on stage and in the heart of the audience? Amandine Bourgeois was born for the stage. It's her natural playing field! Playing music literally means playing with words, seeing them unfold unexpectedly, like a boa around the neck of a diva, along with melodies made to be embraced.
