Angélique Kidjo + Catherine Ringer chante les Rita Mitsouko
8.30PM - ANGÉLIQUE KIDJO
Angélique Kidjo, a three-time Grammy Award winner, is now one of the biggest names of the international music scene, with thirteen original albums to her name. Time Magazine called her “Africa’s premier diva”.
As a truly accomplished performer, her arresting voice, stage presence and multicultural influences have gained respect from her peers and expanded her following beyond African borders. She has cross-pollinated the traditional African sounds of her childhood in Benin with elements of American R&B, funk and jazz, as well as influences from Europe and Latin America.
This year, Angélique Kidjo will present a brand-new repertoire to the Carcassonne Festival, surrounded by her musicians.
10PM - CATHERINE RINGER SINGS SONGS BY RITA MITSOUKO
Rita Mitsouko were the most atypical duo on the French rock scene.
Founded in 1979 by Catherine Ringer and Fred Chichin, the band was a breath of fresh air.
Mixing humour with seriousness, absurdity and mockery, open to all musical influences, they made it through the years with great ease. Marcia Baila, their Latin rock anthem, made this duo a popular figure in the eyes of the public.
Who has never hummed their songs? Le Petit Train, Andy, C’est Comme Ça, Les Histoires d’A: these are essential hits that we can all sing together during this event at the Carcassonne Festival!
