Boris Berezovsky, one of the greatest Russian pianists, will deliver an intimate performance at Château Comtal for an exciting event at the Carcassonne Festival!

Born in Moscow, he studied at the State Conservatory of his hometown with Elisso Virsaladze, and took lessons with Alexander Satz. After a dazzling début recital at London’s Wigmore Hall in 1988, in 1990 he was awarded the gold medal in the Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow. In 1991, Boris Berezovsky made his US début in Fort Worth, Texas, and in France at the Paris Auditorium du Louvre. Since then, he has given recitals on the world’s most prestigious stages in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Tokyo, etc. He is regularly invited to perform at numerous festivals (Gstaad, La Roque d’Anthéron, Salzburg, Verbier, Folle Journée de Nantes) and by prestigious orchestras (Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Berlin Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Dresden, Philharmonia Orchestra) under the baton of Antonio Pappano, Leif Segerstam, Yuri Temirkanov, Leonard Slatkin, Kurt Masur, etc.

His impressive discography, which has won numerous awards (Diapason d’Or, Choc de la Musique, Gramophone, Echo Klassik Preis), released on Teldec Classics International, Philips, Mirare, Simax and Warner Classics, features works by Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Moussorgski, Balakirev, Liadov, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Medtner, Liszt, Beethoven as well as the two Mendelssohn trios with Dmitri Makhtin and Alexander Kniazev.  In 2006, he received the “Instrumental Award” from the BBC Music Magazine.
