Françoise Dolto, au nom de l'enfant
From 1976 to 1978, psychoanalyst Françoise Dolto presented Lorsque l’enfant paraît every day on France Inter radio. These ten minutes of radio dedicated to education were an immediate success. They were to revolutionise relationships with children for all of society. With this show, Françoise Dolto shared the benefit of forty years of therapeutic experience, based on listening to and speaking with the general public. She always regarded the baby as a person in their own right. She repeatedly stressed that everything had to be explained to children. While these convictions seem obvious now, they were not always the norm. Set in Françoise Dolto’s practice, recreated in a studio for the purposes of the film, illustrated by personal, previously unreleased archives, this documentary retraces the life and clinical genius of a woman who always fought “on behalf of the child”.
