The Yakassé-mé Collective was founded 5 years ago, as a result of two friends travelling to Côte d’Ivoire, where they discovered Mandinka music, which has had a far-reaching effect on the African continent. On their return to France, they passed on their passion for djembe drums and dumdums to the current members of the collective.
Yakassé-mé is composed of ten percussionists and ten dancers as well as 2 saxophonists, who all share a passion for the musical culture of West Africa. Their desire to keep this passion going is reflected in their musical and cultural exchanges with the public. By making us dance to the beats of this traditional music, these artists encourage us to unwind and let go.
The Yakassé-mé collective will share the strength of this African music with you at the OFF Carcassonne Festival, as they open for Touré Kunda!
